I questioned myself many times.
幾度となくこの問いかけを
自問自答してきました。
Amidst all these, I got to know and interact with many new customers and friends.
On more than one occasion, I felt moved by their respect and praises for 「Japanese people」.
そんな中、海外ビジネスで知り合った
取引先や友人との交流を通じて、
「日本人」に対して尊敬と絶賛の評価を
してくれていることに感動したのは、
1度や2度ではありません。

As I learned from them amazing things about 「Japanese people」in the past, I felt ashamed about knowing so little about my own country’s history.

凄さを改めて耳にして、
不勉強だった自分が、
恥ずかしい気持ちでもありました。
We start communicating with the rest of the world only when we are able to naturally talk about our country’s history.
世界の人と接する時、
自分の国に関する歴史を語れることは
当たり前としてコミニュケーションが始まります。
Learning about the history of our country and of the world allows us to enjoy our work and live in the modern world without restrictions.
We learn from our predecessors, who saw their effort and hard work bear fruits with their simple honesty.
さらに、自国や世界の歴史を学ぶことは、
自分たちが現代において、
好きな仕事をしたり、
大きな不自由もなく暮らしていけるのは、
先人たちが、壮絶な努力や苦労を
愚直に実践してくれたおかげで、
その上で成り立っているということを、
再認識させてくれます。
